Well, i rather take sweet pastry as i am not really a sweet tooth person ( i do eat them but i can live without them). This bakery cafe actually is just a block away from my office =). Happen that i was on half day and so i decided to buy some back for tea break with my mum in the evening on Fri.

I did not order their sandwiches but two of the pastries. Cinnamon Bread and their lemon tart. Of cos, these 2 cannot make a good review for this cafe la but just want to share some of my Wooo and Booo haha. Personally, i love their lemon tart. The filling is really smooth. The crust is very soft. Overall i give it a Wooo.

i give a little boo for the Cinnamon bread cos i feel like it taste more like croissant than bread. and it is a little hard for my preference. However, it is still quite nice la.

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

the most expensive Shabu i had so far but is so gd that is worth every single cent! Located at Takashimaya level 4. We were captivated by the yummy pictures of shabu and here we go lol. we managed to get a seat despite the restaurant is about 70% packed.

04-28 Takashimaya Shopping Centre, 391 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238872 ‎

    +65 6735 2959 ‎ ·

on their menu, they offered sushi and bento sets. and they also offer sukiyaki and nanbe set. For our case, we decided on their most expensive shabu set lol. for this set, we were given their premium beef and it comes with vege, desert too. at the end of the shabu, they will use the stock from the shabu to cook porridge which is really good. enough said, let the pictures do the talking
the sauce for shabu and is really good. i love the sesame sauce!
the fresh vege that comes with it.
the beef! you can see the fats that is evenly spread. the beef is super tender and thinly sliced. it taste heavenly! i love it
after shabu, they use the soup to cook porridge and is really good!
    ending the day with desert!

  • [Event] #Makanhunt with OpenRice

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

I am very honoured to be selected as one of their participants in this makanhunt @ 313 Orchard. This makanhunt is specially organised in line with their newly "rebrand" iOS Openrice software! Yeah, this software is super good and i cant wait to share more of the new features with you!

Their new iOS software now not only allow you to search for foodie hunt online, they also allow you to eat and review and post on the go!

    some of the features are
    1. searching for foodie hunts near your "current" location
    2. review on the go, easy to write reviews
    3. advance search
    4. hot offer and news

ARMed with the bullet (this application) and our "weapon" (ipad, iPhone), we put ourselves to the challenge!!!!

We met up with a group of bloggers at 313 on a Sunday morning, got ourselves brief and start our competition for the day! we are group onto pairs and followed by 1 usher from Openrice / 313 marketing team. we were given 150 bucks of vouchers to spend on 5 different restaurant and the next designation will only be revealed after we finish the food we supposed to order, review the food and posted them up using the Openrice application! oh, to practise no food wastage, we also need to finish all the food before proceeding to the next destination! so we are tested with the strategy ( what to order), our wits, speed and good typing skills with very good angmo. so no brain freeze for me lol.

I am paired with Andy who is super fun loving guy! i would say that we show very good chemistry and team building together despite our first time meeting each other! we proven ourselves and managed to emerge as the winner of the day! so we won ourselves 300 bucks of 313 vouchers and a tummy full of food lol.

it is kinda challenge for us to finish all the food we ordered in a short period of time. we started from Ramen to ding tai feng, noodles from eat, sushi from sushi express and a prawn platter from a irish pub restaurant. lol. it is even more challenge when we need to eat and review at the same time lol. nearly choked but so fun! lol.

overall, the software is very much easy to use and it is very convenient for us to do review each time we find a new restaurant! =)

last but not least... here we are...

sorry for the lousy pictures cos is taken using my iPad lol. and thank you openrice for organizing this event, i had so much fun!

The variety of food actually surprise me as they do offer more variety than some of the zi char vegetarian restaurant. Food taste wise, there are some dishes that wow me and some that give me a boo. The price is consider pretty steep. Each dish is approx 10 over bucks for small size.

Here are some of the food we had that night

Fried Mee Sua (7 bucks)- I find this dish is pretty good for vegetarian style of cooking. The mee sua is not too soggy nor it is very hard. it doesnt really taste vegetarian to me

Double boiled nourishing soup - 28 (S) / 55 (M). i guess this is the most expensive dish of the night. We ordered a small one to share which is slightly just nice for 4 of us. The soup is pretty much "herbal" taste with bamboo shoots in it. The taste wise is ok for me. nothing much to wow about and neither to boo about. OK only

Oatmeal tofu with curry leaves (15 bucks). i love this. especially the oatmeal. The toufu is pretty crispy but soft on the inside.

broccoli with braised monkeyhead mushroom (19 bucks). For those who love monkeyhead mushroom will love it and vice versa. For me, i am a fan of mushrooms so i love the taste of monkeyhead mushroom. but sadly this dish doesnt give me a WOW. is just a normal stirred fried except with premium ingredients

nonya curry (18 bucks) . this one gives me a boo. the curry powder is too much and too dry for my liking.

i cant remember this dish name but is definitely worth the try. it is in one of their specials i think.

here, you can choose unpolished rice or white rice to go with your meals! for those who are very health conscious, you can opt for unpolished rice!

    Overall
    Food wise : ** ( Ok only)
    Price : ****
Customer service : * ( slow in serving customers and attending to customers. i seen they are quite rude to the guest at another table)

Will i come again? Sorry. dont think so

  • [Food Review] A night with exquisite Japanese dinner

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

A newly opened Japanese restaurant that is located at Jurong Country Club, offering a dinner dining experience for customers. With super friendly chef and staff, it gives you a warm dining experience there. By the way, the place is also opened to public so you can bring your family and friends here for a wonderful dining experience!

Super friendly and chatty chef ~ Ming

they also have private dining rooms for you too!

The food is pretty good and the price is reasonable for what you eat! especially their sashimi, they are air flown from Hokkaido! very fresh!

    Food : ***
    Price : *** 1/2
    Customer service : ****

Overall, will i come again? Yes!

so now lets checkout whats on their menu!

Zensai ($10.80) – Seafood Mayo on Fresh Salad

    T

the salad is very crunchy especially the seaweed. it gives you the "sea" taste for each mouthful bite of it. the mayo is very nice but slightly salty. But overall, this dish is very refreshing.

next we had Dobin Mushi ($10.80) – Teapot Soup

the soup is very sweet and fresh. this is my first time trying this dish actually. one word to describe this, superb! i love it.

next we had Sashimi: Fukuya Tokusen Platter (7 kinds) ($68.80) – Toro, Uni, Botan Ebi, Salmon Belly, Katsuo Tataki, Shima Aji, Tai

omg. this is heaven! the sashimi is super fresh and i love it! with flower petals sprinkle on the sashimi, the dish not only look delicious, it is also super good too!

    next Yakimono: Gintara Mentaiyaki ($20.80)

grill cod fish with mentaiyaki! the rich mentaiyaki is super rich and creamy. After it is grilled, it gives a crispy and it enhance the taste of the grill cod fish too! the cod fish is extremely fresh too!

next we had Sushi: Fukuya Aburi Sushi Mori (5 kinds) ($28.80) – Salmon, Anago, Akami, Buri Belly + Unkan Uni & Ikura Topping

this is also one of my fav dish of the night. the wasabi is very light and not "over" so it doesn't cover the freshness of the sushi taste.  the slightly grilled sushi is very well done for it still maintain the "raw" when it is in the semi cooked state so it doesnt lose the "fresh" taste

Menrui ($26.80) – Fukuya Seafood Ramen (Small)

the broth is specially created by Chef Ming. It is a combination of Japanese and western soup. at first i thought it is a lobster soup but actually it is more of vege base soup lol. the ramen is topped with lots of seafood like prawn and scallop.

last but not list, the "da boom" of the night will go to Kyoho Ice Cream (Japanese Grape Flavour) with Kuri Kanronni (Boiled Chestnut) ($8.80)

never to be missed! their ice cream desert is sooo good that my stomach actually make more space for it..i finish it lo! lol

so what are you waiting for? head down to Jurong Country Club now and try out Fukuya now!

  • of Bali-Thai

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

Head down to the newly renovated Suntec for dinner the other day. Decided to have Thai food for the night and we settled for Bali Thai.

The food is quite nice but the price is slightly steeper than other Thai Restaurant. The customer service is pretty good as the manager actually recommend some good signature dishes to us and we have no regrets ordering it! The food serving is quite huge with alot of ingredients so i guess it will compensate on the slightly stepper price? lol. here are some of the food we ordered

Home made lemon grass drink. A little disappointed as there is no taste at all except it smells all lemon grass. I thought it will be a little sweet at least?

tom yam soup clear. I am quite surprised to find mussels in the soup as other Thai restaurant i only see sotong, prawn n fish haha. Too bad. i m not a fan of mussels so i dont really enjoy it myself but the soup is really good

Green curry. I like this. It goes super well with plain rice and i managed to finish my rice that night just with this alone lol ( please dont ask me how much rice i took that night lol..)

Platter of thai fish cake, spring roll, satay and rice cracker...i think we love thai fish cake so much that we ordered another round of that and we were stuffed with fish cakes hahaha

grill fish! this is very good. The sauce and the grill fish ~ Superb! the fish is super fresh!

kang kong! my favourite. no fanciful way of doing this dish and yet it is so yummy. lol

Phat Tai. very generous with the ingredients. I see mussels the second time of the night lol.

Tang Hoon. I prefer this over Phat Tai. Actually this bowl belongs to someone else cos i finished mine and realised i forgot to take picture of it hahaha

Steam egg.  this dish is really good. the egg is very soft, fully covered with mushroom, minced pork, fish roe, crab meat! definitely must try

poached spinach with 3 type of eggs. this dish is my favourite! usually restaurants will use chinese spinach but they use the normal type of spinach!

double boiled fish soup! this is a must order soup! the soup is very clear and boiled for a very long time to give the milk feel!

stirred fried seasonal beans with minced pork. this dish is also da boom! a very well done dish!

black pepper beef with glass noodles. this dish is the star of the night! i love the beef that is so tender and the glass noodles..one word ~ superb!

    sweet sour pork!

    claypot chicken
