this day we got a little more adventurous and checked out of our hotel and got our arse to Jiu Fen. the place where everyone is talking about! Getting Jiu fen is pretty easy, just need to buy a train ticket at Taipei Main station and take their railway train, alight at Rui Fang and take a cab up to Jiu Fen. We booked our accomdation with Shi Xia Xiang . The owner of the MinShu is very nice and offer to pick us up at Rui Fang train station. this is also my first time taking train lol.

our first meal in Rui Fang food centre! Food in Jiu Fen is very different from Taipei and apparently it is much cheaper too!

we also tried some of their local street food! yummy!

and this is LL and his Or AH Mee Sua lol

our Minshu is located at Jiu Fen. very near to the old town ( within walking distance). it cost about 120 per night which comes with breakfast and the Mingshu owner is very nice, he brought us around Jiu Fen for sight visiting too! u can contact him at

    Shi Xia Xiang B&B

    Look for Tim Wong!

anyway here are some of the pictures of the room we stayed in! it is facing the sea! very nice scenery and i am glad that we made this trip to Jiu Fen cos i love the place here. Super fresh air everyday ( at least for the days i m there lol)

    the scenary outside our room!

we took a quick walk to the Jiu Fen old street for some street food

we tried their yam and tapioca deserts! very good and we love it!

we see dogs everywhere…and i miss Ronnie again while i m typing this post cos during this time, he is still alive except barking..and i know his illness has worsen despite i try not to think about it too much

some interesting stuff we find at Jiu Fen

    black peanut!

some weird red looking kuey that we too scare to try haha
    BBQ shell fish
cute auntie selling sotong balls and will post for everyone who wants to take picture with her and her megawatt smile
and the sotong ball is super yummy!

    high grade Bubble tea!

scenary @ Jiu Fen is simply breathe taking lo

we also visited the old cinema ( already turn into museum liao la)
hmm. do you know that there are many movies / dramas that have jiu fen cast as their outdoor scene? There is one super old Japanese movie that was filmed here!
some night shots of Jiu Fen before we head out for Dinner at Kee Lung ( will continue in the next post)

  • of taiwan day 5 ~ day of nowhere

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

I actually planned this trip and buffered 2 days in case of bad weather but we were blessed with a good weather for our photoshoot so this day is kinda spare day for us. we did nothing as well except going to Taipei Zhong Shan area to shop. We tried exploring other areas for food ( not like those usual ones we go). this time round, we went to some “:industry” area for lunch. the food there is quite good too!

think these are the places where local goes. so here we are, we do what local do lol
we ordered a few of their local dishes to try and they are really good and cheap!

shopping becomes like boring for us when we got nothing to buy haha. so we head bk to hotel for a quick power nap before heading out for dinner. This is the first time i travel to a country where i got no place to go, nothing to do and just want to rest. perhaps, Ronnie is always on my mind that time that i cant keep thinking of him.

for dinner, we tried to explore the surrounding nearby our hotel as we were told there is a small night market where sell alot of food. we walk aimlessly searching for it and finally we found it! it is at a small alley n if you ask me how to get there now, i seriously cant remember already lol.

this is the stall where we had our dinner. Taiwanese style of fried noodles. something different from what we usually hav and it is like a zhi char stall. hmm. only comment, price is kinda expensive for street food like this but the quantity is huge!

reminds me of Ronnie. In taiwan, there are alot of dog owners and they even bring their dog for dinner like this. so cute. i wish i can do the same now =(. i do miss him. #ronnie

    our dinner

the noodles looks the same but actually is different. lol. one is beef noodle and one is seafood but it all taste the same except the ingredient is different. hahaha

we saw this and wanted to try! it is really good! grilled chicken wrap!

last but not least, ending the dinner with the atas bubble tea lol.

  • of taiwan day 4 – Photo selection + Shi Lin night market

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

the BS are very efficient as we are already able to select the pictures we wanted the very next day. we need to select a total of 36 pictures ( but we upgraded to total of 60 + 10 soft copies). 2 for blow up ( 1 canvas type and 1 poster).

We woke up quite late in the morning cos we were super tired from the photoshoot. We went exploring the area around our hotel and i got drew to the sesame + chinese wine smell from far! and we discovered this gem located at one of the small corner of the street.

very good for a rainy and cold day like this. the temperature drop to almost like 14 degrees after a heavy rain.

we ordered a few dishes and omg, the food is really good! i love their sesame chicken mee sua! very gd!

    our food

we ordered their sesame chicken which is super strong in the chinese wine ( i love it) and their ginseng chicken! i love it too!! i love drinking hot soup on a wet day!

after that , my cravings for the chong you bing starts lol. so after much begging, LL give in to my pleas lo..lol. we bought 1 for sharing. super good!

after our photo selections, we went bk to hotel to rest before heading out for dinner. lol. this trip is more like a sleeping trip for us. we were both super super tired.

for dinner, we went to Shi Lin Night market for some street food. the thing about taiwan that we love most is their night market where we can find alot of nice yummy food. we dont have this in Singapore =( except Geylang lol.

    our favorite food!
    super big chicken chop

Shi Lin Night Market Street is always filled with alot of stalls like this selling very yummy food lo

now they also hav BBQ mushrooms! i love this…this is very nice and yummy!

bbq lamb meat…LL say is very nice..but i dont like lamb ..so lol..he is the only one who finish it

another dish that we cannot miss if we are in taiwan! is their fried oyster omelette!

then we saw this funny thing. is supposed to be a cake that is shaped of a dick. too bad.we are too full to stuff into our stomach liao haha

lol. ending the day with the pictures of dicks lol.

  • of Taiwan Day 3 – the day

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

our 3rd day is the most important day for us cos we need alot of help from the photographer and the makeup artiste and blessing for good weather. chemistry between the photographer and makeup artiste plays a very important part as it will definitely make you look very good or very chui ( bad). lucky for us, everything turns out fine. we are also blessed with very good weather ( after that it started raining for the next few days and weather turns slightly cold than we expected. lucky i was well prepared with my jacket. lol)

we woke up super early as we need to meet at the BS for makeup and changing of gown. we did a quick breakfast at Moss burger. yummy. the Moss burger here super yummy and they are very flexible in terms of value meals. 2 value meals for X amt and is super value for money lor. except i cant remember how much it is. but i think is less than 10 bucks SGD.

after breakfast, we went to the BS …

end product – first look of the day!

we went a full day outdoor photoshoot from the north of taipei ( bei tou area) to the west side of tai pei and back to 101 taipei for some night scenery. very tiring but we get to see alot of places that we never would have go ourselves before! it was quite a fun journey for us with the photographer and his cute assistant and the makeup artiste and his driver!

the day ended quite late for us and it rained after everything is finished. so we went to Tian Wai Tian for a yummy steamboat dinner! A very expensive dinner i feel as it cost 40 bucks per pax and i dont think it is value for money ( minus the Haagen daz icecream lo). but thats the only nearest restaurant that is open at that time lol so bo bian.

thats me after 7 layers of makeup pound on to my face. lol.

the steamboat comes in 2 type of soup. we choose the ma la and the chicken soup

we ordered sliced pork n beef. i still prefer the beef we had first day cos it is thinly sliced and soooo gd!

din really get to eat alot cos we were pretty tired. after a quick dinner, we headed back to the hotel and Zzzz. wasted lol. shouldnt hav ate steamboat hor? haha.

High class fine dining restaurant located at Marina Bay Financial Centre.

    Address :

8A Marina Boulevard Marina Bay Financial Centre #02-01

    Contact :
    6509 9308

    overall dining experience

food : ***3/4 ( i will give some credits to certain dishes)

    customer service : ***

    price : ****

i have given a fair rating for customer service mainly because we are being placed at a table that has shakey

table legs ( something is wrong with the table).

when we given our feedback, the waitress just simply brush our feedback aside and we got very angry so

we demand a change of table. only then, they arrange a new table for us. =(. seriously, how can one eat with the table

keeps shaking???!!! and the waitress deemed it as normal as the table is spoilt. if table is spoilt then change it la.

we did not ordered their set menu for the day and instead we try their ala cart menu.

their famous Authentic Apple Wood Roasted Peking Duck

unlike other restaurant who will skin the duck and then cook the meat in a seperate dish, Paradise Pavilion skin the duck and debone the duck for u. they do not cook the duck meat in a seperate dish.

this , u can enjoy the apple wood roasted taste of the duck! and u need to wrap your own peking duck wraps lol. i prefer it this way cos i can choose how much sauce to put ( some restaurant ‘s sauce is too sweet and too much).

their peking duck is really nice. i love the skin although first look, i thought it “couldnt make it” as it doesnt look very crispy. but i change my mind after i put one slice of the skin into my mouth! omg! it is super crispy lo!

their specialty tofu. not bad. something new. the toufu is really soft

mei cai with kailan. something new. the semi sweet and salty mei cai forms a new taste with stirred fried kailan!

fried rice- very generous with ingredient especially crab meat! i wonder what they add to the rice that makes it so golden yellow!

kurubuta pork! not bad. but a little too salty for my liking

some fish toufu dish that we ordered. this is one that i m saying that it doesnt suit my liking lol. probably is the way

they prepare the fish that makes the fish very soft ( like not fresh?) but of cos m sure that they use the freshest fish la.

mmm. overall, dishes are quite nice at Paradise Pavilion with very nice scenery of Marina Bay Sands! would

definitely go back for more of their peking duck!

  • [Review] LANEIGE Snow BB Soothing Cushion

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

Heard a lot of raves on the BB cushion and i so wanted to try it out! As u know i m not sponsored by Laneige ( =( ) so here is my very sincere and truthful feedback!

WHat is new concept cushion type BB??

A new concept cushion-type BB with 5 active ingredients for whitening + sunscreen + sweat proof + soothing + makeup contained in the cushion to maximise the refreshing and soothing sensation. everytime you touch it, the air pump in the cushion contains air bubbles for thin and skin friendly makeup. also it provided in two separate containers to preserve the active ingredients n their functionality. the formulas can be used fresh and safely from start to finish

    Cushiony soothing cushion puff

the special puff designed to feel the refreshing soothing sensation absorbs moisture less than ordinary puff to deliver the refreshing sensation of moisture to the face and stay clean and sanitary. the formulas apply smoothly without irritation and even a small amount can spread to cover a large area

    4 main points!

    1. bright and clear whitening + sunscreen + strong sunscreen effect

contains white plus renew complex TM, the major ingredient of Laneige white plus renew, for brigt and clear skin. moreover, its SPF50 _ PA +++ formula blocks UV rays even under strong sunlight

    2. long lasting makeup

high molecules strong against sweat and sebum form a network to form an elastic barrier on the surface of makeup to hold makeup and UV screen for a long time. also highly elastic cushion powder holds up the makeup barrier than can be easily be collapsed by sweat and sebum for long lasting makeup even with one layer

    3. refreshing and cooling sensation

keep the puff clean all the time and gently massage it in lukewarm water with neutral detergent or puff cleanser to wash it. rinse thoroughly until the detergent is washed away, release all moisture and dry completely in a shadowy place.

    4. natural and clean skin tone

the spherical powder with similar refraction rate as the skin controls oil adsorption and light diffusion to prevent excess shine and creates a natural and clean skin tone with medium coverage.

    My feedback

Other than Laneige, you can also find BB cushion from The Faceshop too! i tried their BB Cushion but i dot like their texture as it is very sticky and i dont like the feeling. While Laneige is more watery, light and when it is applied, you feel the smoothing feeling on your face! the coverage is also very good.

Let me show you an example :

    before application

    after

as you can see, the dark scare is lighter and my skin appears to be brighter than before. here is another example. my pores are “filled” and no longer showing big pores!

with its SPF 50+ PA ++, it can also serve me as a sunblock that i can use before i go out!

it also comes in 4 different colour

    13. true beige, 21 natural beige, 23 sand beige and 31 brown beige. for me, i am using natural beige and it gives me the natural look. i can just put some loose powder + blusher, eyeliner, mascara , lip stick and i look perfect!!

so here u go! the final product! natural and non greasy feeling! i love it! Thanks LANEIGE for the wonderful creation!

Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion is selling at 59 bucks with 1 refilled box. so for price of 59, u get 3 bb soothing cushion!! in the original box, already has 1 refill + 1 container (with refill) !!
  • [Review] my favourite blusher + lip colors from Etude House

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

Frankly speaking, I am not a fashion person who will paint colors that are in trend on my face. i usually use colours that suits me and i prefer to be Me than a fashion chaser. =P

so yes, on the other hand, u can call me boring who doesnt dare to try out new and different colors. in fact i did a few times but i ended up like weird opera singer lol.

ok. this time round i m going to introduce a blusher and lipsticks colors for u. the colors are very sweet looking and it will definitely suits any ages!

i m crazy over cream based / liquid based blusher as i feel that they are more lasting that powder one. previously i m using the cream based blusher from Kose and i love it so much that i keep using it. i also did try out a few brands like Chanel ( atas one), faceshop, shu uemura , skin food and finally i found the liquid based blusher from etude house. it is call watercolor blusher. i m using color no. 2 coral. it is a little pinkish n orange base.  the blusher is very watery and u just need to put  alittle on your cheeks n blend it using your fingers. the blusher last me at least 8 hrs before any touch up ( if i go out at night, i just put a little more to make it look fresh).

the texture is very smooth after application and you wont feel sticky at all. it looks very natural on my cheeks too. oh, dont be greedy and put alot cos you wont want to look like the baboon’s ass. lol

next to my latest purchase will be the 2 lipsticks from etude house. i dont really put on lipstick cos i prefer to use lip gloss. recently i m thinking i should do something for a change and so i started putting lipstick again haha

on the left : or204. this color is coral colour. slightly more towards pink.

on the right : or 2A, this color on the other hand is more orange.

ok, i love these 2 colors mainly because it looks like the lips on the dolls that u see in the shopping mall lor. very sweet n natural.

i love the 2 colors and they look great! with a layer of lip gloss, u look exactly like baby dolls!

so ending the post with the picture of me.

    eye shadow : brigitte as-1

    lipstick : etude or 2a

blusher : etude water color no. 2

makeup base : etude baby choux base peach

foundation : chanel le blanc beige rose

mascara : etude volume + a coat of dior show

    eyeliner : etude house brown

eyebrow : eye brown palette from faceshop

botton eyeliner : brown color from shu uemura

next, i heard alot of raves on laneige’s CC base. going to get one and give review soon! stay tune!

  • of Taiwan Day 2

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

Day 2 is slightly packed for us as we need to select + alter our gown / suits, discussion with the makeup artiste and the photographer on the location n the style we are looking at.

We headed for a quick brunch before going to the BS for our gown selection. Day 2 brunch of the day :  Lu Rou Fan ( Stewed meat rice) from Beard Zhang ( Hu Xu Zhang).  many of them say theirs is the best but i tasted much better one ( the one in Bei Tou ~ old shop by old auntie ~ last Taiwan trip).

    Pork Chop.

rice…very small bowl ~ we had 2 each in the end lol.

some soup that is cooked using pig intestine…tasteless..faint. n looks very er xin (disgusting) with the white intestine inside.

    Cabbage

and nothing beats ending the meal with taiwan’s bubble tea!

after a heavy lunch we went to select our gown. not sure if it is the right decision cos on the actual day of shoot, the white gown becomes super loose for me =(. faint.

the gown selection for outdoor shoot is not as much as we tot, probably most of the gowns doesnt seems to be appealing to us and suit our taste. we were quite worried that we may end up with no gown at all. on the other hand, i m quite happy that i can fit all of the gown. means i m not that fat la. haha

gown selection is quite tedious. cos every gown is very heavy and u need to wear n show n take off n wear another one. faint. it took us 3 hrs to select 5 gown for our shoot the next day. and after our gown selection, is LL’s suit selection. for his, is quite simple. 1 black, 1 white n 1 grey. the rest of the accessories are mixed n matched by the BS. after that we went to Zhong Shan for some last minute shopping. we din know that we need to prepare singlet lor so we headed down to Xing Guan San Suo for some shopping. Did our quick dinner there at Ajisen Ramen before heading bk to the BS to meet up with the makeup artiste and photographer!

so we did a quick discussion with the makeup artiste on the style we are looking at and what suit us. and the locations we want to go with the photographer and the type of feel we are looking at. after that we headed bk to the hotel for a early night sleep for the next day!

  • of Kazokutei ~ Handmde Udon

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

Finally had a chance to try Kazokutei Handmade Udon. We ordered their Wagyu beef Shabu set that comes with fried chicken, a bowl of udon, shabu soup with veges and 80 grams of wagyu beef (set for 2). Frankly speaking we are kinda disappointed with their wagyu beef as i think it is not as fresh. the color of the beef looks pale n weird. The udon is still ok, very smooth but LL feedback that it doesnt taste that special. the shabu soup base is gd with lotsa veges inside. the staff there are quite friendly too.

Food : ** ( because of the wagyu beef)
Price : *** ( still consider reasonable but i feel the shabuya at Vivo is better and they serve better quality wagyu beef , in terms of freshness.)
    Customer service : ***

  • of Taiwan 2013 – Day 1

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

It took me awhile before i can start to pen my taiwan trip here. Cos it will always remind me that i left Ronnie for a week and he left me after. but i do dream of him all the time. like for the past few nights. i m still waiting for him to bring me his friend to keep me company.

back to my taiwan trip. this is a trip for us to do our photoshoot in taipei. We booked a BS package from Best Romance ( they did a road show here last yr). so we decided to go taiwan for our photoshoot on the last wk of April (recommended by them). this is my second time in taipei and as we are there for a objective so we do not have much sight seeing to do. our BS shop is situated at Ming Guang Xi Section 2 and we booked a hotel( hotel sunroute) nearby to save us the logistic issues. to our surprise, the hotel is just situated diagonally opp the BS while it look so far on the map. the hotel is quite popular among japanese as it is built by a japanese. so the deco and renovation is very much jap style. very small room but u hav everything. we are caught by surprise that there is a bathtub in each hotel room despite the room is so small

our first dinner is at Ximending. we took a train that cost as 20 tai bi each to Ximending station from Ming Guan Xi station. a very short distance ride ( just a few stops away). we shop around before settling down for a shabu dinner. we realize that Shabu is quite cheap in taipei and u get very good premium angus beef for 20 plus SGD!

look at the food! free flow of beef and pork!

    veges

the beef taste so perfect with raw egg!

    that’s us

after a satisfied beef spread, we went window shopping ( actually we also looking for Ah Zhong Mee Sua. something that we miss very much). finally after getting lost a few times, we found the shop at er mei street. Super long Q. and although we are already very full, but we still stuffed ourselves with the mee sua!

you just buy the mee sua and u can stand around the shop n eat! the weather is quite cool that day and it really warms your stomach after that!

we went back to the hotel with super stuffed stomach n knock out after that.

thats all for day 1. will continue on Day 2.
