  • of a not so nice experience at MBS ~ Phantom of Opera

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

i decided to pen this down so that i can remember and share this with others la. Phantom of Opera is really good especially Brad Little portray Phantom very well. I love his performance. However, is the way how the theatre is managed now upset me a lot and probably us, as the consumer needs to learn to be more respectful to others.

THe thing is like this. I enjoyed the first half of the musical until the second part where everyone went out to get drinks and some they got food. of cos, i do not expect the consumers to finish whatever they purchase within 15 mins (including toilet breaks), so they are allowed to bring into the theatre ( but i make it attempt to finish my drinks). To my disgust, they are now even allowed to eat during the performance. i m so upset.

    Why?

    1. i paid for the tickets to listern to performance. not to hear people drink and chatting. They even munch on pop corns. i could barely hear what the performer is singing. this is also about respect for the performers. this couple actually munch so loudly and the ushers did not even attempt to stop them. i was there for lion king, wicked but previously they did not even allowed us to bring in food! whats wrong with these people? if you want to impress your gf or what, please, act high class la. and not act as if you are watching a movie in a cinema. if you want to munch pls go somewhere else... and what? the management actually allow people to eat during the performance. this really sucks. sorry to say this , although previously i work in MBS and i know these people..but really sucks. if f&B wants to earn more money, they should set rules and regulations. this is really terrible.

    2. people chat in throughout the show. the gf wants to impress her bf how knowledgable she is that she keeps talking and talking non-stop. the best is, she say "howcome Sarah brightman is not here with the phantom?" hello, if you want to show how good u are, please, do some research...if sarah brightman is here as christine, she will be the oldest i even seen. even if you want to chat or talk, please talk smart.

sadly. i paid for the tickets and yet i get sucky services. but i do want to give credits to the performers. they did very well.

  • of me and Faith

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

Faith is about 3 month plus now which means Ronnie has left me about 5 mths already. Faith is growing up strong and healthy. i pray that she will continue this way. since my last handling with Ronnie, i learnt many things. time spend with pets are very short as they dont live longer than us, they treasure the time they spend with us more than us. and very often we took them for granted. especially me. I never realize the time i spend with Ronnie is so little that he is suddenly gone like that. i tend to appreciate the time i have with Faith more now. I am willing to sacrifice more trips, my classes for Faith ( although i did too for Ronnie).

I also learnt that commercial food are really bad! totally bad. somehow i feel natural food, homecooked food is always the best! everyday i ensure that Faith gets homecooked food. even her treats are baked by me. I now got a dehydrator to make pork jerkies for her. not that i dont want to do it for Ronnie. just that i din know that treats off the shelves could be so bad..after much read up, i realize food i have to dog is only safe through me as only i know what it is made of. I bought cookbooks to learn to cook for Faith, i ensure that without eating commercial dog food, her daily nutrient are covered with the variety of vege, meat..etc.

Another lesson i learnt too is that i shouldnt encourage the dog to keep taking medication. Ronnie had always been given steroids for any tom dick henry illness like lao sai, skin problems..etc. which is really bad! medicine are bad! the best way to go is herbal. with the last few mths of Ronnie's life, i seen how TCM works and TCM uses the natural herbs which is safer and not damaging to the health. although progress is slow but at least, the side effect is lesser.

and also chemical used for tick repellents are bad too..somehow i feel Ronnie's spine problem is also caused by too much chemical in his blood..thus now i use neem oil, herbal essential oil. i dont know how effective it is but it is highly recommended by my friend who is Ronnie's dog trainer also communicator. i also adopted Ronnie tru her.

Ronnie is really a painful lesson for me and until now, i can still think of him and i cry. cos i din do enough, i thought i can take care of him. i know the proper way but he died becos of me. now with Faith, i will give her my best. i promise. i pray that she will stay safe, healthy and strong. Amen

  • of Watami time

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

i love the set meal from Watami cos they are super value for money! at a price of 69 bucks for 2, you get to eat many dishes already! this time, we formed a pax of 4 so i get to eat more food at only 129 bucks hahaha.  super duper value for $$

As usual, the set meal comes with salad, main dishes, side dishes, drinks..etc. there are some food items that are fixed and some you get to choose from the list of variety la.

the tempura and their salad is fixed in their menu. although is fixed, it is something that you die die must try especially their watami salad! i m not really a salad fan but i m totally in love with the salad! the salad is super fresh and the half boil egg adds more freshness to the veges! i love the crispy breadcrumbs too!

their tempura prawns are also very fresh!

    their sashimi too!

this is something that you must order!!! their wafu pizza! unfortunately, it is only available in their deluxe set! the pizza uses a super thin layer of crust ( like nann) and japanese pizza usually comes with mayo..and i love mayo lol

next is their korean army pot (kankoku butechige)! i am totally in love with this! the soup uses miso as a base, the kimchi added some spiciness to the soup which blends super well with the instant noodles and korean rice cake! you can also order additional rice cake / noodles at 1 bucks per plate.

their tonpeiyaki! superbly good but sadly too cheesy for me lol!

next is their terayaki squid. although doesnt taste like rubber but is alittle too salty for me.

lastly is their irodori chirashi sushi! not bad. but i dont really like it as i m not really a fan of wasabi

    food : ***
Price : ** ( go for their set meal!)
    Customer service : ***

will i go again? of cos! needless to say, this is already my 3rd time to this restaurant in this yr!

  • [Food Review] a taste of traditional in a different way

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

This is my second time with OpenRice and i had so much fun! This time we went into the Havelock Neighbourhood to search for more yummy food!

A newly opened restaurant sitting along the road of Havelock Road. If you do not take a stroll along the street or if you do not live in Havelock neighbourhood, you probably will not notice this little gem.

This restaurant is opened by a lady boss who wants to share the love of claypot rice and she invented many fusion type of claypot rice for her children that is worth mentioning here! Many of the dishes are her own recipe too! and guys, fret not for the "always" the same claypot rice as ladyboss say she always want to experiment with new dishes to share with her customers!

Ladyboss and the host - CalvinTimo!

    Address:

    Signature Stone Restaurant

    729 Havelock Road, Singapore 169649

    Tel: 6271 9918

    www.signaturestonerestauarant.com

So what so special about the claypot rice other than new fusion dishes?

Tradditional claypot rice is cooked using clay pot ( ya...thats y is call claypot rice ma). Stone restaurant uses the pots that are being used for bibimbap! The reason is because this type of pot will constantly keep the rice warm ( trust me..after i finish my rice, the pot is still warm!) and the constant heat from the pot will help to create more rice crust ( for those clay pot rice lover gonna love this!) and not letting it to go chao tah! and the best part of their rice is..they cook the uncooked rice in the pot ( all the way until it is cooked!) so you will need to give them a call before coming down so that they can prepare the rice for u!

another thing that is worth mentioning here is their sambal chilli! it is lady boss's secret recipe and it really set your taste bud on fire!

now here are what we had!

Stone Pot Bacon & Cheese Rice  ($10.90) – Bacon, mushroom, herbs with cheese

a fusion mixed of western bake rice and chinese way of cooking rice. The cheese is not too much so you wont get the gek lat feeling. However, i feel the rice is a little dry for me. nevertheless, it is something new to try out!

next is the stone chicken pot  ($5.30) – Special marinated chicken, salted fish, sausage, mushroom and veg.

this is my favourite! they added alot of salted fish inside and the chicken meat is very smooth and tender! guess what? they use drumstick only lo! With lotsa of chinese sausage and salted fish, this dish is like heaven to me haha. but, i find that a little more pork lard oil added to it will make it taste even better! but lady boss say they are practising healthy lifestyle but they can give additional shallot oil by request!

next  Stone Pork Chicken, Longans & Black Bean Soup (Big - $12.40) – Chicken, dried longan, black beans and slice licorice

This is my first time drinking soup cooked with dried longan. the longan added a different fragrant and taste to the soup. if you see from the picture below, the boss is super generous with the ingredients! and this dish is a super duper healthy dish for black beans is very good for legs, mushrooms is very good for lowering down blood pressure! and it is cooked for very long hours without MSG!

    next,Wine Chicken - $8.00

a soup that will warm your stomach on a rainy day! the chicken is cooked in the chinese wine together with some dried chilli to strengthen the taste of the soup. The dried chilli gives the soup a little spiciness which helps to even out the bitter taste from the wine.

next,   Onion Cheese Mushroom Omelette - $6.00

rthis dish is my favorite too! the egg is not overcooked and it is very soft and smooth! the lady boss added some cheese to give the egg a better texture and better taste! the cheese is just nice and will not make you feel gek lat lol...

next is their mango ice cream ($2.60)!

the mango ice cream is really very good! you can taste pieces of mango inside! not too sweet for my liking! a definitely must order dish!

    Overall

    Food : ***

will i come again? : Yes! i will! for a soup fanatic, i will definitely come back for more soup!

  • of Ramen Good times @ Yoshimaru Ramen Bar

    Visit my website @ http://shirleylye12.wix.com/princessmic

A newly open ramen bar at Holland V that serve traditional taste from Hakata, Japan! Frankly speaking, i have never been to Japan but all Japanese ramen tastes very good to me haha. The old difference is the texture, the broth that they used to prepare the noodles.

    Yoshimaru Ramen Bar
    31 Lorong Liput Holland Village
    Singapore 277742
    http://www.yoshimaruramen.com.sg

    Mon-Fri Lunch : 11am to 3pm Dinner : 6pm - 11pm
    Sat,Sun & Public holiday 11am - 11pm
    (last order 30 mins before)

So what so special about the ramen?
Well, the difference i feel lies in their broth and noodles.Hakata ramen is cooked using tonkotsu (pork bone) which usually is the usual cloudy white broth. The broth is super rich in collagen( you can taste it!) The noodles are very thin and straight (something like marutama ramen).

    What they offer
there are a wide variety of ramen for you to choose from. They even serve Ramen cold too (this is something i have not seen before in other ramen bar). If you want to order set meal, their set meal comes with a side dish, 1 drink and 1 ramen for you to choose from! I would say set meal is more value for money. If you are more adventurous, you can take up their ramen challenge ~ to finish a big bow ( approx 3 ramen servings put together) in 15 mins and you enjoy the bow of ramen for free (worth of 30 over bucks!). I seen someone finish it in 12 mins and i was like wow....

they give you sesame seeds where you grind them to add more flavor to your ramen! you can also choose to add more fried garlic too!
    our set meal
I took the original Hakata ramen
LL took their garlic burn ramen..i prefer his as the taste of the soup is stronger
    Overall
    Food : **3/4
    Customer service : ***
    Price : ***
The noodles is similiar to marutama ramen ( very thin) and the soup is quite nice actually. However, i prefer the garlic burn as it has stronger taste. the egg is a little too salty for me.
Will i come again? Maybe if i have ramen cravings and around the corner.
